The 2017 Whitewater Rafting Season is Underway!
2017 Rafting Season Outlook
The snow is melting and the rivers have started to swell with the spring runoff. Rivers with hydroelectric dams on them already have enough water in their reservoirs to supply great rafting flows through this season and into 2018. Sections of "free-flowing" rivers that do not have dams on them are flowing strong from the snow melt. Many non dam controlled rivers have had little to no rafting flows on them through the past few drought years. Whitewater enthusiasts around California are getting excited for what looks to be the longest non dam controlled whitewater season in most peoples memory. Whats this mean for you? Lots of opportunities for you to get out on river sections that have not been available for many years!
Truckee River Half Day - Good flows NOW!
- Season will go into October. *High water on this section through Spring may increase difficulty and minimum age restrictions*
Truckee River Full-Day - Good Flows NOW!
This section usually has little to no water in it due to irrigation dams but this season will have good flows into June.
North Fork American River - Good Flows NOW!
- A non damed river that has seen little rafting in the past few years will have good flows all spring.
Middle Fork American River - To High Now
- This dam controlled river always has water throughout the Summer months, look for flows to come down to good levels by June.
Carson River - Good flows NOW!
- Season should go into June.
